Chico Performance Racing

I purchased a turnkey 1776 engine for my 74 std beetle daily driver from Chico. Chico built and dynoed the engine (87hp @ 122 ft/bs torque).  It arrived in good order with no damage. The engine sat on the pallet for several weeks while I finished some other things on the car. We finally got everything back together and after a few preliminary checks, the engine fired as if had ran the day before.

The engine now has about 1200 miles on it. It continues to get stronger, with a very wide power band. Without a doubt, one of the smoothest VW engines I have ever driven. The engine starts easily, is very drivable, has not overheated, and been virtually trouble-free.

All in all, Anibal Chico has been one of the best folks I have ever dealt with. Even though he builds high-dollar big horsepower engines, he took the time to help me decide exactly what I wanted and needed for my daily driver. He built my engine with quality parts and labor, and continues to support his customers well after the delivery. He has my respect, admiration, and recommendation.

Anibal Chico is outstanding! He is a great guy who takes tremendous pride in his work and is very concerned about customer satisfaction. Everyone should take great comfort that you CAN order an engine and be totally confident about the purchase, and he will be very honest about delivery dates. Take this confidence and push your build budget to the limit and get the motor you have dreamed about.

My Chico Performance Racing 1776cc  pulls like a train. Anybody who wants the best engine and the best service from a man that knows what building engines is about, then talk to Chico.  I must have saved £1500 over UK prices and got a better product.

I am very pleased and impressed with my new CPR 1914 + pro-street transmission. Chico was very polite and prompt when I called him for help and status updates on the build process. He helped me decide what the best combination of power plant options for my driving habits. Now that everything is installed and running perfectly, I can't rave enough about his attention to detail and skill. He is a true master at what he does. He even offered to lend me some of his tools to make the engine install go easier. My 1961 Bug now runs smooth and is very fast. The engine starts right up and idles perfectly. I did not have to make any adjustments, just turned the key and go have fun! The engine looks great too, it could easily take a best engine trophy home from the VW shows I attend. Thank you Chico!

Just Installed the longblock Chico built me, and I must say, it is nothing short of top-notch work. I highly recommend him for any of your VW engine needs. He did everything he said he would do and more. He is a great guy to deal with.

I ordered a 2017cc engine from Chico. I even went down to his shop in SoCal to meet him. Very clean and organized shop and I was surprised how young he was given his reputation.  When I got it home, I uncrated it and was very impressed. It was beautiful.

I bolted it up to my refurbished ‘69 pan that had been waiting for it, pulled some wires, and dropped an extended fuel line into a gas can.  Hit the start button and it fired right up and sounded great. Twin 44's all set up and a dyno sheet shows 126hp @ 5500.

I could not be happier.  A little pricy but you'll get what you pay for. Spec out any part or manufacturer and Chico will put it together for you.
